Trying to get back to it from Art In Search

Well the "it" is blog posting. I read all my favs and comment, but I don't seem to have to mental fortitude to write my own. I have taken plenty of photos and get them on the computer, but stall at writing the post. I have a nice list of posts to do on my to do list, but I just stare at it. It is hard for me to write what I do and getting those photos off the camera, named and in the right folders takes longer than it should for me. Too bad I couldn't ...

GINGERBREAD AND GLAM! from Kwilty Pleasures

A Holiday Tree always begins naked.
This is a pre-lit tree I purchased in 2022.
Not LED lights but it will have to work.

This tree stands 7' tall in the foyer.
A bit of glam and a bit of whimsey.
Gingerbread reeks of Christmas!

I collect ribbons all year long.  Then out comes the ornaments
and decisions to be made for what I want to use.

As you can see by the price tags...more thrift store finds.
YES I am a thrift store queen!

I have collected gingerbread ornaments for many years.
Many collected during 10 years of ...

Day Eleven of the Twelve Days of Christmas in July! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

Welcome to the 11th day of the Twelve Days of Christmas in July Blog Hop!   I really fell down a rabbit hole while writing this post - I couldn't for the life of me remember what the eleventh day gift was, so I went to look it up.  (Just FYI, it's eleven pipers piping!)  But I also found out that if you received all the gifts listed in the song (and they accumulate - each day repeats all the gifts to date) you'll have 364 separate items by the end of the 12th day!  And since 1984 ...

Christmas Tree Wall Hanging Tutorial from Tea Rose Home

O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree... every year I see fun Christmas tree quilt ideas online and want to make one, but a year passes by so quickly and poof! It is already December. I tried coming up with my own pattern around October. I was sketching and experimenting with fabrics. After a few tries, I came up with this tree pattern. Wouldn't it be so pretty if I made 300 plus blocks and made a quilt with these cute trees? I was looking at several projects on my table and decided not to do that this year. Instead ...

"Creative" Christmas Stockings from Sew Preeti Quilts

The Island Batik Ambassadors challenge for November 2022 is Creative Christmas Stockings.

Me: What is the purpose of Christmas stockings?
Paul: Not to keep your feet warm...
Me: Just a decorative item, then?
Paul: Mostly.
Me: You know how much I hate "decorative stuff". Just another dust collector, in my opinion.

Paul: Well, some people may actually use it for stuffing Christmas presents.
Me: Hmm... I thought about that.
Paul: And?
Me: Only small presents...
Paul (mischievously): Like dollar bills?
Me (realistically): And gift cards.
Paul: Yup, those can be placed inside a stocking.
Me: Small boxes of jewelry too ...

Third Day of Christmas Tree from Wendy's Quilts and More

I've finished another Christmas decoration in my #12in22ornamentstitchalong .

This is the Third Day of Christmas by Liz Mathews.  I bought my pattern from Stitch Witches in Dunedin.  You can buy PDFs from Liz Mathews Etsy shop, but I like the printed colour version, so I  bought from Stitch Witches.

I haven't stitched the first or second days of Christmas yet, because I like the third day the most, so I just started with the third day of Christmas.

The polystyrene base that mine is sitting on isn't the real base yet, but it's all that I ...

Last gasp of Christmas from Art In Search

It is finished, the improv Christmas Trees wall hanging. I like it so much, I hung it up near my side door so I can love it each time I leave the house or go into the basement. It is ok it is out of season now, it makes me smile. I love the fabric I found on clearance at Joann's for the back. I never use glitter fabric, but this was fun.

All quilted

Trees, ok, Christmas Trees from Art In Search

Nobody probably wants to see Christmas trees, but I started a couple of days before Christmas on making these improv ones that I had been saving the pattern for a long time. I used 5" squares as I had a lot of those colors in my 5" boxes. They finish at 3 1/2 x 5.
I was going to make just a table runner, but then the addictive and calming nature of sewing them was perfect for holiday stress and I kept going. I bought some clearance Christmas fabric at Joann's and it is ready to load on ...

advent time . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

Once upon a time there was a blogger who was participating in an online Advent calendar blog hop with Jo at Serendipitous Stitching, but she got her dates mixed up and didn't realize her date was the 20th (instead of the 22nd) until she hopped over to check out today's feature.

It was me. I'm that blogger. Glad I made the realization before noon (CST)!

This year, Jo, who so graciously hosts this annual hop, has asked participants to share about their Christmas tree traditions!  This is an easy one for me!

Growing up, and even well ...

Around the House from From the Strawberry Patch...

I started decorating around the house, earlier this month, by hanging the "Stitch Pink Christmas" (my version made up in traditional Christmas fabrics) quilt out on the porch. I finished the quilting on this one in January, it's the first time it's been hung! I love it! From there on it was full speed ahead with the decorations, inside and out. I got the Christmas dishes placed in the kitchen

Well, mine is still up from Art In Search

All but the binding is finished on the Christmas Trees quilt. My real tree is still up so I think I am good on the tree front. I hate to take the tree down because of the bright cheer it adds on these gray days and because it was from my tiny yard- I will never have 20 years to grow one again.

Most of the quilting went ok, just a little bad tension ripping. I had the plan in my head and it went as planned, so that is a plus. Plus, I liked the quilting. I used Celery ...

Abiding in Christmas past, present and future from Art In Search

I want to wish anyone who reads this a Christmas that will be real, deep, and grounded in a joy that can't be taken away. When you look at the first Christmas, it was a hard time. Mary was pregnant, dogged by scandal, away from family, the government had forced them to comply with a census decree which meant leaving home, no one would give them shelter (no inns in Bethlehem- the original Greek means guest room), and the Son of God had to push aside animals and waste to be born. We do rejoice because of the overall ...

Merry Christmas! from Where Art & Life Meet

When I was young, on December 24th we had a special Christmas eve dinner and then we would open our Christmas presents under the Christmas tree. If we were visiting my grandmother at her house in Colorado, we did the same. The only difference was that she had live candles on her tree and no… Continue reading Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas!! from Telling Stories Through the Needle's Eye

For once, Teri and I (Kara) are on the same continent, although we are a few states apart. While we wish that we could have spent more time together, this year is about finding new ways to "be together." We hope that you and yours have figured out your new way to show your love to family and friends. Thankfully, we have been able to spend a little time with our Ohio family, and while there, I was able to snap a few pics of my sister-in-law's beautiful Christmas trees. We hope you enjoy a visual walk through her ...

Diwali Memories from Sew Preeti Quilts

Diwali is the festival of lights - the biggest Hindu festival in India. In terms of fanfare, think of it as Hindu Christmas plus fireworks. Friends and neighbors exchange sweets (akin to cookie exchange), homes are cleaned (like Christmas) and decorated with lights and Rangoli patterns. There are sales on home goods and folks are bombarded with advertisements for jewelry and watches (for the special someone in your life). Everywhere you look there is a sale or a bumper sale. Streets are decorated with lights and shops/markets are dressed up in their glittering best.

When Bernie asked if I have ...

Christmas cookies

Two of my five grand children who are living here in Greece came visit us for the week end. It was such a happiness to see them so joyful and enthusiastic for preparing Christmas! My six years old grand-son and my four years old grand-daughter helped me baking the French traditional Christmas cookies : sablés de Noël. After what, with the help of their father, they cut some paper ornaments and garlands, and hanged them on the tree. It is the first time I let the children decorate the Christmas tree without interfering and I must say that they did a ...

Christmas tree quilt pattern to make in one day from Pieced Brain

Christmas tree quilt pattern to make in one day

Here is a Christmas tree quilt pattern to display your favorite fabrics or to make as a scrappy quilt. Perfect as a wall hanging! I sprinkled it with stars and added the presents under the tree. No water required!

I have many large Christmas quilts and was looking for something I could hang on a wall or use as a throw. So, I designed the Tree of Joy Christmas quilt pattern. I finally got the binding done this weekend while listening to a book. Then, I left the house looking for a cool place to photograph it. I forgot to ...
